 Eligibility Criteria for India Post GDS Recruitment 2024

Age Limit:
Candidates must be between 18 to 40 years old as of the last date of application submission.

Age Relaxation:
Category-wise age relaxation is as follows:

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC: 3 years
  • PwBD (Unreserved): 10 years
  • PwBD (OBC): 13 years
  • PwBD (SC/ST): 15 years

  • UR/OBC: Rs 100/-
  • SC/ST: Nil
  • Female/PwD/Transwomen: Nil

Important Dates for India Post Recruitment 2024

  • Online application starts: 15th July 2024
  • Online application ends: 5th August 2024

Educational Qualification:
Applicants must have a Secondary School Examination pass certificate of 10th standard with passing marks in Mathematics and English from a recognized Board of School Education by the Government of India/State Governments/Union Territories in India.

Local Language Proficiency:
Candidates should have studied the local language at least up to the 10th Standard from a recognized board.

Other Criteria:
Candidates must also have:

  1. Knowledge of computers
  2. Knowledge of cycling
  3. Adequate means of livelihood

Selection Process for India Post GDS Recruitment

  1. Shortlisting:
    Candidates are shortlisted based on a system-generated merit list, which will be available on the Department's website and the GDS Online Portal. Shortlisted candidates will be notified via SMS and email.

  2. Merit List:
    The merit list is prepared using the marks obtained or conversion of grades/points to marks in the 10th standard Secondary School Examination, aggregated to a percentage accurate to four decimal places.

  3. Physical Verification of Documents:
    Shortlisted candidates must attend physical verification with original documents and two sets of self-attested photocopies.

  4. Final Selection:
    Final selection requires a two-stage physical verification of documents. The first stage is done by the Verifying Authority chosen by the candidate during application, and the second stage by the Engaging Authority. The Divisional Head is the Engaging Authority for BPM posts, while the Sub Divisional Head/Unit Head is the Engaging Authority for ABPM and Dak Sevak posts.
